Resources

I have found these resources to be incredibly helpful in my writing journey.

12x12 Writing Challenge

An inspirational forum of writers, illustrators, and community. Each month offers new webinars and learning opportunities to fine tune your craft.

SCBWI

The Society for Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. Each region or state has a local representation which is incredibly useful for meeting local authors and illustrators and the resources they provide.

The Picture Book Look Podcast

Incredible dynamic duo Kirsti Call and Kim Chaffee speak with people in the picture book world about their creations. Guaranteed to inspire!

Critique Group

Nothing beats having a critique group that you can lean on for advice, resources, feedback, constructive criticism, laughs, cries, and just to have fun and enjoy the craft.

Read Picture Books

Read as many as you can especially those that have been released in the last 3 years. Track which ones could be good comp books or mentor texts for your own stories.
